The company
A well established SME Manufacturer in Plymouth, part of a progressive global organisation, is now seeking to strengthen their finance team with a Financial Accountant.
What is the purpose of the Financial Accountant role?
This role will assist the Head of Finance in all aspects of running the finance department for the Manufacturing site.
To include the timely completion of the Plymouth site financial accounts and head office upload requirements.
To support the day-to-day processing of financial activity, this includes Purchase ledger, Debtors ledger, Inventory, fixed assets and treasury, month end and assist on some exciting projects
Support SOX and internal process controls and compliance needs.
Take an active role with budgets and forecasts.
Support on site IT when required.
What will be the responsibilities of the Financial Accountant?
Assist with the internal management accounts for Plymouth This includes preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments, month by month comparison of variances, overhead recovery, inventory/stock and cost of sales.
Assist in the completion of the site balance sheet reconciliations, year-end statutory analysis.
Assist in the site budget preparation including generating and issuing full management packWorking capital management – bank (including preparing GBP and foreign payments, selling currency), inventory controls, analyzing debtors and accounts payable tasks (creating and amending vendors, payment runs, debit notes). Credit card management, Expense processing and I/C reconciliations
Improving the processes to improve efficiency and ease to achieve the daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
Support the standard costing process so it continues to be an effective tool for pricing and variance analysis. Develop the standard costing process to give meaning to material, labour and overhead variance reporting as a management tool.
Preparation and submitting the VAT return.
Responsible for preparing and submitting all reports for the head company, as well as the AR ageing analysis and the SDW Sales files/Business Intelligence to the global company
Fully responsible for managing and maintaining the asset register as well as producing the monthly depreciation and month end reports
Liaising with auditors and external parties where necessary
Generating P11Ds, posting the payroll journal
Managing and maintaining company mobile phones, utility contracts and company vehicle
Responsible for the Office of National Statistics forms
Producer of the Daily Management Report
What experience and skills will the Financial Accountant have?
Finance background
Good analysis skills
Good understanding and confident using various IT packages
Have achieved recognized accounting qualifications or qualified by experience
Able to work as part of a team but be independently confident to argue a case
Able to work flexibly with the aim of achieving the goals and hitting the deadlines
A can-do attitude
