What is the purpose of the Group Production Engineer role?
 
Responsible for supporting production throughout the metal shop and assembly areas. Focus will also be on the support and development of external suppliers and development and definition of strategic targets across the organisation.
 
What will be the responsibilities of the Group Production Engineer?
 
General and Task Management
 
×     Identify and present ideas for improving production in order to improve profitability, Quality, Throughput or H&S.
×     Conduct feasibility studies on continuous improvement ideas generated from within Production, and having agreed the priority and gained necessary sign off, implement those projects
×     Work closely with the Lean team to develop and implement of best practices, routines and solutions to improve production rates, Quality and output
×      Support the Production Director, Supervisors and Lean team in evaluating the strategic development of on-site manufacturing to achieve business goals.
×     Assist in the production of operating instructions
×     Assist in the co-ordination and management of Zero Series builds internally and support the manufacturing team where required.
×     Produce written reports where required
×     Undertake continuous training and development
×     Ensure adherence in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
×     Participate in new product reviews to ensure that only the most production efficient designs are released into production
×     Participate in Change Request reviews to ensure that the best and most cost efficient solutions are adopted without having a negative impact on safety or quality standards
Relationship Management
 
×     Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
×     Work as part of the production engineering team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements
×     Stay current and up to date on any technology changes that may affect manufacturing and advise of any impact
×     Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers and other service providers as and when required
×     Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained
 
 
 
What skills and experience will the Group Production Engineer have?
 
×     HNC / HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline preferred
×     Experience implementing Manufacturing improvements and Continuous Improvement projects within batch manufacturing businesses
×     Experience of working with sheet metal fabrications with an understanding of related manufacturing processes and limitations
×     Project management experience and a track record of identifying and successfully implementing change
×     Previous involvement in New Product introduction would be beneficial
×     Experience of Value Analysis and Value Engineering techniques, root cause analysis, FMEA, Value Stream Mapping and 8D would be beneficial
