What is the purpose of the Master Production Scheduler role?

• To develop and implement a production schedule within the ERP system, reviewed on a regular cycle that delivers customer delivery performance and minimises inventory holding.
• To develop and deploy policies and processes to ensure ERP data integrity is maintained.
• To plan production an processes that execute production on ERP

What will be the responsibilities of the Master Production Scheduler?

• Balances current and future customer demand requirements with manufacturing and supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure completion of customer requirements
• Responsible for supporting and delivery of the KPI’s and Plant metrics such as OTD, Past Due, Inventory and Sales forecast and delivery.
• Creates the Master Production Schedule in the ERP system to generate requirements for manufactured and purchased parts while ensuring desired inventory levels are maintained
• Acts as a tie breaker between customer service and manufacturing: Reviews new sales order requests and provides a feasible promise date to customer service before the orders are promised
• Analyzes data, including enterprise requirements planning information and prepares reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution
• Reviews planning parameters in order execution systems (such as Avante or MFGPro) to ensure proper order generation
• Coordinates with supply Chain, Manufacturing and Customer Service groups to maintain plant-wide production scheduling information
• Assists materials planning group in analyzing the need for and size of strategic inventories to meet customer demand fluctuations
• Determines appropriate Master Schedule time fences at the site and ensures that production schedules are level loaded and that plant output is as linear as possible while customer service levels are maximized
• Consults with master scheduling peers in feeder or recipient manufacturing plants to ensure schedules are coordinated
• Ensures that the MPS is not overloaded and that every MPS work order has a valid future date assigned to it
• Monitors MPS stability, tracks reasons for schedule changes and ensures that root causes for schedule volatility are being resolved
• Responsible for processes to maintain planning data integrity and robustness of planning processes
• Key point of contact for all planning related ERP queries
• Deploy company Model Plant policies relating to Master Scheduling and Work Order maintenance to the organizations materials team and wider functions
• Deliver best practice and training of Plant and company Material policies, procedures and requirements

 
 
What skills and experience will the Master Production Scheduler have?

• Degree Qualified in relevant analytical Discipline
• Qualifications in project management (Prince 2) and advantage
• APIC’s CPIM certification or studying towards attaining
• High level working knowledge of MRP/ERP system operation – preferably implementation experience
• Experience controlling an MPS in a complex business (make to order & make to stock)
• Project Management experience and proven deliverables
• Experience in managing people through a change process
• Experience of implementing new processes, procedures and responsibilities
• Generating and performing presentations
• Good influential skills and ability to cope well under pressure
• Strong communicator at all levels in business
• MS Access experience
• MS Excel advanced skills
