Our client is one of the leading independent builders’ merchants in the South West operating out of locations across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
 
What is the purpose of the Showroom Manager?
  
As Showroom Manager you will lead and encourage staff to develop a well managed and efficient department. Build strong customer relationships ensuring that no customer goes unserved.
 
What will be the responsibilities of the Showroom Manager?
  • Provide customers with advice and guidance on the selection and use of products and support colleagues in your areas of expertise
  • Give a flexible service to customers whether on site or in the customer’s homes
  • Encourage staff to maximise sales using linked selling and other appropriate skills
  • Responsible for driving sales forward, ensuring your staff use appropriate selling techniques e.g effective quotation follow up, proactive promotional selling, effective telephone marketing
  • Personally use and encourage other colleagues to maximise the use of the information technology available, in order to enhance presentation to customers and Company performance (e.g Cad systems, supplier CD Rom catalogues etc.)
  • Encourage the servicing of customer orders from branch stock profile where ever possible and appropriate, ensuring staff understand the relevance of this
  • Ensure that all customer special orders and directs are placed with preferred suppliers (in accordance with Company policy) knowing we have negotiated the best possible price and using the correct documentation
  • Make certain all staff liaise with customer and internal department/supplier to ensure delivery requirements are met. Customers must be informed of any delays or problems in meeting those requirements
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of products technology and regulations in order to support or further customer service. Encourage staff to achieve the same and in doing so identify training needs and requirements
  • Be aware of competitor and customers’ activities to identify commercial threats and sales opportunities, communicating with staff and management as appropriate
  • Advise of apparent stock shortages in order to achieve good stock management
  • Make work a pleasure - support and appreciate your colleagues
    
What skills and experience will the Showroom Manager have?

Essential:
  
Appropriate supervisory/people management experience
Full UK driving licence
Proven customer service experience
Relevant CAD & Design experience
 
Desirable:

Any industry recognised training/certification
