Having spent 15 years working for a number of ‘traditional High Street’ recruiters in her hometown of Birmingham, our founder and Managing Director, Paula Golby, had seen the good, the bad and the ugly of the recruitment industry.
Following a relocation to North Devon to be closer to her family, Paula decided it was time to raise the bar when it came to delivering genuinely great candidate and client service. In 2011, Cooper Golding Recruitment was born.
From the outset, the business focused not just on doing the basics well, but on investing extra time and effort to truly understand candidates and clients. This deeper understanding has always enabled better decisions, stronger partnerships, and more successful long-term outcomes.
Cooper Golding initially supported local small to medium-sized Engineering and Manufacturing businesses across the South West. Over time, demand grew beyond both the region and the original sectors, as clients and candidates sought the same high level of service on a wider scale.
In 2025, Cooper Golding entered an exciting new chapter with the appointment of Sara as a Partner. Sara brought with her extensive recruitment experience gained across both large corporate firms and smaller independent businesses. Having started out as competitors, a single conversation revealed a shared set of values, a common vision, and a belief that recruitment should always be built on integrity, relationships and doing things the right way.
What began as a coffee meeting quickly became a trusted partnership. Today, Paula and Sara lead Cooper Golding together, strengthening the business with aligned leadership, shared ambition and a continued commitment to raising standards across recruitment.
As Cooper Golding continues to grow, our focus remains unchanged: delivering honest advice, exceptional service and meaningful recruitment partnerships.
