What is the purpose of the Buyer role?
As a buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of parts and management of suppliers to support the operation of the company in Barnstaple
What will be the responsibilities of the buyer?
- To identify purchasing requirements for production and new product development.
- Researching, selection and purchasing of products and materials.
- Negotiating with suppliers to ensure best price, quantities and delivery times
- Ensuring timely delivery of inbound orders.
- Analysing trends to make sound purchasing decisions.
- Ensuring strong relationships and process controls with suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement through measurable KPIs.
- Placing purchase orders for production requirements, non-production and NPI.
- Supporting supplier performance and development.
- Ensuring cost, delivery and inventory targets are met.
- Maintaining accurate data with MRP system.
What skills and experience will the Buyer have?
- Proven supplier relationship management.
- Experience in all aspects of supply chain from programme definition, NPI, production to aftermarket.
- Effective cross-functional engagement.
- Cost management.
- Lean tools and techniques.
- Project management.
- Experience in aerospace or similar.
- Extensive experience in working in low volume, high product mix, build-to-print environments and design to spec environments.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Change management.
- Import/Export compliance.
