Chief Inspector - Senior Quality Engineer (Team Leadership Focus)
 
About our Client:
An established Manufacturer with several sites in the UK and overseas. Their South Molton site is a high end production facility with a proactive ethos, valuing their employees by investing in the training and retention of staff.
 
Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer with a strong emphasis on leadership.
In this role, you will lead an experienced team of Quality Engineers, working closely with plant leadership to execute the defined Strategic Quality Plan.
Your primary responsibilities include providing quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners, and internal manufacturing cells, while actively participating in continuous improvement activities in targeted areas.
As a leader, you will execute the Quality Assurance strategy to ensure product flow consistent with established industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements.
 
What you will do as the Chief Inspector:
  • Lead and mentor a team of experienced Quality Engineers and Quality Control staff in the execution of the Quality System and Strategy.
  • Provide Quality customer interface and expertise to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied, including leading complaint resolution and root cause and corrective action execution.
  • Support and drive the Quality Team working in the manufacturing area relative to the collection and analysis of quality data, providing expertise and ensuring product and process quality requirements are implemented through Company Policies and Quality Best Practice deployment.
  • Solve technical product/process and business process problems utilizing structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Execute the development, implementation, and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation, providing advanced quality planning support in the development and launch of new products, processes, and services.
  • Participate in the auditing of internal Quality Systems and complete part approval documentation to assure that customer requirements are met in new or modified products and processes.
  • Analyze organizational quality metrics and perform periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close gaps at an operational level.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of quality assurance training programs and conduct training in quality-related topics.
  • Participate in product development and launch activities, including identification of customer expectations, manufacturing and test support, reliability analysis, design reviews, evaluation of test programs, and material testing.
  • Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions, and process audits.
  • Develop, implement, and audit inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures/work instructions.
  • Investigate and eliminate causes of quality problems and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Participate in the design, procurement, maintenance, and evaluation of gauges, measurement instruments, devices, and test equipment.
What skills and qualifications will you have as the Chief Inspector:
In addition to any skills and qualifications mentioned earlier, the role requires:
  • Proven ability to lead a small team of Quality personnel to drive performance through the APEX process.
  • Exceptional skills in managing all Team Personnel requirements – H&S, Disciplinary, Training, Sickness, etc.
  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within aerospace or similar industry.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The role will require liaison with external parties such as customers and suppliers, thus travel within and beyond the UK may be expected. Flexible working hours may be required to facilitate investigations and improvements around production needs, for example, performing tests or inspections during shifts or weekends. This role is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and therefore there may be restrictions on who can work on this project.
