Electronic Assembly Technician
Barnstaple
4 DAY WEEK
Monday to Thursday 715am to 530pm
PERMANENT ROLE
SALARY £21132 TO £32635 DOE
 
A Barnstaple based company delivering cutting-edge electronics solutions with a design-centric approach for mission-critical applications across specialized global markets.
 
Primary Job Purpose:

• Manufacture check & follow detailed build instructions to a high degree of accuracy
• Manufacture product in a timely manner in line with expected costed time restraints
• Complete manufacturing tasks within a Quality Accredited environment, in accordance with
both General Manufacturing and Aerospace controls.
• The role requires a zero tolerance to defects
• Proactive outlook on an improvements culture with a view of continuous improvement
• Work within a zero harm culture
• Demonstrate safe behaviour at all times, and ensure yourself and others in your working
areas are safe and not exposed to significant risk.

Requirements of the role
Level 1
• Proven track record of Safety and working as a willing, competent member of a team
• Willingness to undertake annual Eye Examination & colour blindness checks.
• flexible in approach, with willingness to learn new skills
• Undertake learning programmes such as IPC 610/620 ISO quality controls as necessary.
• Close attention to detail, in terms of adhering accurately to internal build instructions and or
customer specifications/drawings.
• Ability to work in an orderly manner and organised in a 6S environment.
• Zero defects right first-time attitude.
• Able to work to required Key Point Indicators (KPI) with respect to quality of work,
performance & output
• Identifying & raising problems to the team (immediate/Wider)
• Working closely with the immediate/wider team to support OTTP delivery within a Zero
Defects culture
• Highlighting quality issues where required
• Travel may be required to support business needs
• You may be required from time to time to undertake such other duties as the company may
reasonably require.

Level 2
• As Level 1 plus the following
• Identifying problems to team with ability to follow through to conclusion with team support
• Support project build & Team Lead
• Greater manufacturing skill base than Level 1

Level 3
• As Level 2 Plus the following

• Able to coach & train levels 1 & 2 leading by example
• Lead project builds or lines
• Problem Solving delivering solutions
• Greater manufacturing skill base than Level 1 & 2

Competency

• To be successful you will be highly customer focused with excellent technical knowledge
and a keen eye for detail.
• Experience of working in a fast-paced KPI led environment where the ERP system data
quality is positioned as the single source of truth for the business.
• Manufacturing soldering/assembly/PCB build/Wiring operations in accordance with internal
documents/customer drawings/schedules to recognised standards.

Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities – CORE

Essential
• Experienced in Aerospace industry or similar industry.
• Extensive experience in working in low volume, high product mix, build-to-print
environments, and design to spec environments
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver against deadlines.
• Experience in the use of ERP/Shop booking systems
• Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to work as part of a team in order to satisfy the needs of schedules and deadlines
• Accreditations in IPC 610/620 or Recognised Similar such ESA/ECSS
Desirable
• Experience of Accredited Quality Systems such as ISO9001 or AS9100
• Knowledge or experience of Lean manufacturing or production techniques
• Formal Apprenticeship
• Additional accreditations such as trainer for IPC610/620
