Production Manager
North Devon
Monday to Friday  (40 hours per week )
30 – 35k
The Company
Our Client is a leading manufacturer in the North Devon area and due to continued success they are looking to appoint a Production Manager to their existing team. Fantastic opportunity to work in successful manufacturing company.
What is the purpose of the Production Manager role?
  • Managing and co-ordinating manufacturing and production processes across all production departments.
  • Ensure all production activities are executed in a safe manner and always observe and instigate all Company and regulatory policies and procedures as required.
  • Utilising the Production Planner and Shift Production Leads to create and deliver all daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules incorporating all customer orders and NPD activities as required to meet customer expectations.
  • Conduct production review meetings with Shift Production / Inspection Leads / Cell Leaders and Production Planner as required to maintain production output and implement recovery plans where necessary.
  • Monitor productivity rates and quality standards for all production output and ensure all KPI targets are monitored and recorded.
  • Production documentation (hard copy and electronic) is always correctly compiled and up to date.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Maintenance department to ensure all production equipment is operating within set parameters and availability matches output / capacity plans.
  • Ensure all shift production staff and operatives are fully trained to match production requirements using the Technical / Training Lead, Product and Process Support and Shift Production Leads to assist as and when required.
  • Ensure all relevant HR documentation including RTW Interviews, holiday and absence, overtime management, appraisals and PDP’s, recruitment interviews and disciplinary procedures are compiled and adhered to all times for all Production Staff.
  • Liaise across all company departments (Planning, Quality, Technical, Engineering, Procurement, Dispatch and Sales) to ensure smooth production activity.
  • Assist with procurement of new tooling and equipment as and when required.
  • Assist with Departmental Budget creation and ensure all production activity is within budgetary targets.
  • Act as focal point for Continuous Improvement and Lean activity across production department.
  • Escalate / Communicate any production or personnel problems to senior management.
  • Deputise for Operations Manager during periods of absence.
 What skills will the Production Manager require?
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal qualification (or strong relevant and proven experience) in Leadership and Management and/or Team Leading and Supervision of people
  • Understanding and good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and principles including Lean Manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs (including but not limited to Word, Excel, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook etc).
  • Working knowledge of ERP / MRP and Scheduling / Planning software.
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing
  • Formal qualification in H+S management.
