What is the purpose of the Operations Manager?
Responsible for formulating strategy and improving manufacturing performance for the for one of their Divisions.  Accountable for planning and implementing production processes to improve overall production quality, productivity and overall manufacturing performance ensuring compliance to all policies and procedures.  This includes managing budget constraints, ensuring managers measure their own teams performance through driving continuous improvements.
 
What will you do as the Operations Manager?
 
Develop and deliver a production strategy in alignment with the divisional Directors' requirements.
  • Oversee the production strategy using KPIs and monitor progress with direct reports.
  • Set and review goals for all production areas to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Establish daily production targets for the division.
  • Continuously analyze production data to identify and address inefficiencies.
  • Manage the Production Planning and Purchasing functions to ensure effective planning and necessary improvements.
  • Present Capital Expenditure proposals to Directors/Board.
  • With Board approval, assemble project teams for new machinery implementation, including managing labor needs.
  • Implement and improve Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
  • Conduct effective SQDC daily meetings.
  • Manage the operating budget and capital expenditure requests.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain and enhance departmental 5S standards.
  • Apply continuous improvement practices and kaizen events for quality processes.
  • Support and manage improvement events using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Operate strategically to enhance company infrastructure.
  • Use data analysis and OEE to identify and manage improvement projects with stakeholders.
  • Lead direct reports and teams, ensuring alignment with company values.
  • Identify and address training and development needs for teams.
  • Foster a positive employee culture focused on world-class service.
  • Resolve issues and disputes to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Investigate policy breaches and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge through Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and audit requirements.
  • Implement and adhere to Health and Safety Policy (HS001) and Environment Policy. 
 What qualifications and experience are needed for a Operations Manager?
  • Educated to degree level in engineering, or manufacturing, including relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of Production and Manufacturing including relevant commercial experience. Proven Leadership qualities and people management experience.
  • Good IT skills especially Excel.
