Purchasing Assistant Pay £13.50 to £14.00
Temporary role (with a little possibility of extension or permanency) based in Barnstaple
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Monday-Thursday: 08:30-16:45 Friday: 08:30-15:00
 
What our Client is looking for:
We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Purchasing Assistant to support the smooth running of operations by managing consumable stock orders and ensuring full purchasing compliance. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative accuracy and experience working with purchasing systems. No supplier negotiation is required.
 
What are the responsibilities of the Purchasing Assistant?
  • Raise and process purchase orders for site consumables (e.g., glue, stationery, and general supplies)
  • Ensure all purchasing activity is fully compliant with company procedures
  • Match and reconcile purchase orders with invoices
  • Accurately maintain order and product information within SAP and ABACA systems
  • Monitor stock requirements and place timely replenishment orders
  • Support operational teams with purchasing-related queries
  • Maintain accurate coding and documentation for all transactions
  • Provide general administrative support within the purchasing function Systems Used
  • SAP
  • ABACA (internal system)
What are the qualifications and experience for the Purchasing Assistant?
  • Experience in purchasing, procurement, or administrative support
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident working with data and financial documentation
  • Able to manage workload and deadlines efficiently
  • Comfortable using ERP or purchasing systems
Additional Information This is a temporary role, with interviews to be arranged as soon as possible (Teams preferred). The role is unlikely but not entirely impossible to become permanent as future system developments are under review
