What is the purpose of the Returns Operative role?
As a key member of the Demand Planning team, the Supply Chain Planner is responsible for building the forecast and setting inventory policy for the South African (SA) product portfolio, purchasing inventory and managing intercompany stock movements between the 3 warehouse locations. The Planner should achieve the optimum balance of demand and supply using Excel and ERP systems. Through a proactive planning process the Planner should ensure the right stock is in the right location at the right time to fulfil agreed service levels for SA market, whilst ensuring that working capital objectives are effectively managed.
 
What will be the responsibilities of the Supply Chain Planner?
  • Build, validate and enter the sales forecast into the Planning tool in partner with local sales and Product teams in Exeter
  • Take pre-emptive action to correct forecast errors and maintain accuracy of planning parameters
  •   Improve product availability in 3 warehouse locations (Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town)
  • Move stock from the primary warehouse in Durban to the secondary warehouses using Goods In Transit (GIT) process
  • Responsible for the end-to-end purchasing process ensuring suppliers deliver on time and inventory targets are achieved
  • Ensure purchase orders are raised in timely manner and sent to the supplier
  • Expedite purchase orders to minimise customer back orders and replenish safety stock
  • Co-ordinate resolution of goods receipt or invoicing queries
      Monitor and manage inventory levels, overstock and obsolescence
  • Review Planning Parameters including Pareto Groups to achieve accurate forward plan and optimal inventory
  • Communicate with internal customers regarding the status of purchase orders, delivery schedules and product availability
  • Review demand patterns and amend planning forecast accordingly
  • Track forecast accuracy, identify root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Introduce process improvements in order to improve availability and efficiency
  • Order weekly/monthly and inform suppliers to process orders according to plan from ERP system recommendations
  • Track suppliers to ensure delivery date is confirmed and achieved
  • Regularly check back order/availability/potential stock-out reports, and take action as required
  • Ensure open orders on ERP system match that of the suppliers and update with accurate delivery dates as goods are despatched from suppliers
  • Work with suppliers and forwarders to arrange regular shipments and to plan economical shipments where possible
 
 
What skills and experience will the Supply Chain Planner have?
  • Experience in direct purchasing/planning
  • Data analysis work experience
  • MS Excel or Access experience
  • Supply chain experience in multi-site environment (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of planning processes (desirable)
  • SQL Experience (desirable)
