Job Type: Full Time; Permanent
Salary: £34,000 - £37,000 per annum
Location: Barnstaple

Responsibilities:
 
Lead and support the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the Assembly area or manufacturing line in terms of direct employees, machinery, and resources to achieve budget requirements and operational KPIs in support of the Production Manager.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the safe and effective use of people and equipment to achieve the daily/ weekly/ monthly production job plan. (Job Plan Attainment)
  • Support the operational line/area with direct first hand manufacturing.
  • Lead the manufacturing team in the achievement of the operational KPIs and budgeted requirements set by the business with demonstrable line/area process adherence & improvements.
  • Supporting the PM to produce capacity and labour plans that promote a lean flow mentality & focus on labour (Utilization) controls.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing processes are operated by appropriately trained people in line with the manufacturing work instructions training & supporting accredited skills.
  • As part of the operational team participate in the maintenance & Display of operational KPIs & ensure these are always live & up to date
  • Champion the continuous improvement with lean activities & principles to gain further success in efficiencies, quality & employee engagement.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to by leading by example (role Modelling) managing formally & informally and monitoring teams' performance & formally at least twice a year by means of the performance system.
  • Ensure product quality, shall have the authority to stop production to correct quality problems to protect the business and customer. (COPQ)
  • Run interactive quality clinics with the team to find root cause & drive solution orientated improvements.
  • Interact with internal customers and key stake holders at all levels as required.
  • Be able to cover the PM during absence.
  • Travel may be required to support business needs.
  • You may be required from time to time to undertake such other duties as the company may reasonably require.
Qualifications:
 
Core Requirements
  • You will be highly client-driven with excellent technical/Practical knowledge with a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to be able to communicate competently and effectively with the team & line management.

Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experienced in Aerospace industry or similar industry.
  • Manufacturing skills, e.g. Soldering, Assembly, Wiring, Winding.
  • Proven track record in effective operational team management.
  • An understanding of target driven manufacturing.
  • A clear understanding of how a manufacturing process should be configured to ensure stable and effective outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement lean improvements in a structured way to continually improve the manufacturing performance.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to identify and implement innovative technologies to add value to the existing processes.
  • Manage and control costs in line with budgets & quotations.
  • Computer literate.
  • IOSH managing safely trained.
  • Lean ethos.
  • HR training to understand and be competent in managing disciplinary processes.
  • Microsoft office literate.
