👷♀️ FAQs for Job Seekers
How does a recruitment agency work?
At Cooper Golding, we act as the bridge between candidates and clients. You send us your CV and availability; we screen, interview and match you to roles in manufacturing, engineering, business support... If a client likes you, we facilitate interviews and help with placement, ensuring that the terms, pay, contract, and any compliance checks are sorted.
Do I have to pay you to help me find a job?
No, for candidates, our service is free. We are paid by our client companies who are hiring.
Can I register with more than one agency?
Yes. You’re welcome to register with multiple agencies; however, ensuring clear communication about your availability and which roles you’re being considered for helps avoid conflicting offers.
What kind of roles do you offer? Permanent, temporary, or contract?
We offer all three: temporary, contract/interim, and permanent placements.
How long does it take to find a job through you?
It varies, factors include your skills, the match between your experience and job requirements, market demand, and client urgency. Some candidates are placed within days (especially for temporary roles), others may take longer for permanent or highly specialised roles.
Will I be employed by you or by the client?
That depends on the type of assignment. For temporary or contract roles, you typically remain employed via us (the agency) for payroll, benefits, etc. For permanent roles, you'd transfer to the client as their direct employee.
Will I be interviewed by you before you put me forward for a job?
We screen and interview candidates (often via a conversation or meeting, via teams or face to face) to understand your skills, background, and preferences, so we only submit you for roles that are a good fit.
How do you match me to the right roles?
We combine your CV, availability, skills, and preferences with our knowledge of client needs. Because we specialise in industries like manufacturing and engineering, we can match technical skills, shift patterns, site locations, and culture fit more effectively.
Can I decline a job I’m offered?
Yes, you are free to decline roles that don’t meet your expectations (pay, hours, environment). We just ask for clear communication so we can continue finding alternatives for you.
Will I receive feedback if I don’t get the job?
Yes, we aim to provide feedback when possible so you can improve for future opportunities.
How long do temporary jobs usually last?
It depends on the assignment, some are short-term (weeks), others may extend to months, or become temp-to-perm (leading to permanent roles).
Can temporary jobs lead to permanent roles?
Yes, many clients use temp assignments as a trial period and then offer permanent positions if you're a good fit.
Do I need to provide my own PPE or uniform?
If PPE or a uniform is required, the client will specify and often supply it, or inform you beforehand. You are expected to follow the client’s dress code.
Can I work part-time or flexible hours
Possibly, this depends on the client’s needs. When we discuss roles, we’ll let you know whether part-time or shift flexibility is available.
Can I come back to you for another job after my current ends?
Absolutely, we encourage repeat engagement. Many candidates use us multiple times over their careers.
